Secondary Gifted Education Jobs

Although the descriptions doesn’t say it, as I understand it the multiple full time positions will be itinerant, shared among comprehensive middle and/or high schools of SFPS.

Demand for New Secondary Programming

Surveys of parents and students have demonstrated strong demand for new programming. Such services include highly individualized case management and teaching of classes designed to support the post-secondary transition of gifted/high ability learners.

Proposed New Classes at Middle/High School Level
  • Advanced Reading/Great Books — Preparing students for high level discussion as they articulate and evaluate diverse perspectives and essential questions.
  • Independent Study — Training students to succeed in individualized inquiry through research and creative work.
  • Mentorship — Managing individual student mentorships
  • Academic Competitions — Supporting student accomplishments in any of a variety of academic competitions, including National History Day, Math Olympiad, Destination Imagination, Scholastic Art and Writing, Speech and Debate, etc.
